Disney has unveiled the first trailer for Tron: Ares, the third instalment in the Tron franchise. The film is scheduled for release in UK cinemas on 10 October 2025.

Directed by Joachim Rønning, Tron: Ares stars Jared Leto as Ares, a digital programme who crosses into the real world. The story centres on the consequences of first contact between humans and artificial intelligence originating from the Grid.

The trailer includes recognisable elements from previous films in the series, such as light cycle chases and recognisers. Jeff Bridges makes a brief appearance, reprising his role as Kevin Flynn.

The cast also features Greta Lee, Evan Peters, Hasan Minhaj, Jodie Turner-Smith, Arturo Castro, Cameron Monaghan and Gillian Anderson.

The score is composed by Nine Inch Nails, in the band’s first full film soundtrack credited under its own name.

Tron: Ares follows the original Tron (1982) and its 2010 sequel Tron: Legacy, continuing the franchise’s exploration of digital landscapes and human-technology interaction. The upcoming film is expected to examine modern themes surrounding artificial intelligence and technological integration.
