A First Look at Nolan’s The Odyssey Bound for 2026
Christopher Nolan’s next feature, The Odyssey, has been confirmed for a global theatrical release on 17 July 2026. The film adapts Homer’s foundational epic into a large-scale action narrative and marks the first time the ancient saga will be presented on IMAX film screens.
Shot across multiple international locations, The Odyssey is being photographed using newly developed IMAX film technology, continuing Nolan’s long-standing commitment to large-format filmmaking. The production is positioned as a myth-driven action epic, translating the scope and structure of the original text into a contemporary cinematic format designed specifically for premium theatrical exhibition.
The ensemble cast includes Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, and Lupita Nyong’o, with additional roles played by Zendaya and Charlize Theron.
The film is produced by Emma Thomas and Christopher Nolan under their Syncopy banner, with Thomas Hayslip serving as executive producer. The Odyssey is scheduled to open in cinemas worldwide on 17 July 2026.
