Fender Unleashes the King of Monsters – Godzilla 70th Anniversary Guitar Collection

Fender has revealed a bold collaboration celebrating the 70th anniversary of Godzilla, uniting music and monster cinema in the Fender × Godzilla Collection. Announced during the “Fender Experience 2025” event in Harajuku, Tokyo, the series includes three limited-edition Stratocaster guitars and a themed distortion pedal, with pre-orders opening on 11 October 2025.

The highlight of the collaboration is the Fender Custom Shop Limited Edition Masterbuilt Godzilla Stratocaster, priced at 5,500,000 yen (around S$49,600). Built by master builder Andy Hicks in partnership with Los Angeles artist Tom Neely, this one-off instrument features a built-in “Roar Switch” that reproduces Godzilla’s signature roar through the amplifier. Under blacklight, the hand-painted Godzilla artwork glows with a heat-ray effect. Each guitar is made to order, with shipments beginning in February 2027.

Two Made in Japan Godzilla Stratocaster models will also join the lineup, priced at 495,000 yen (approximately S$4,470) each. The Blue Edition will be available across authorised Japanese Fender retailers and features an alder body, maple neck, and Godzilla emblem at the 12th fret. A special Tone 2 knob activates an internal distortion circuit linked to the GLO (Gain-Linked Optics) system, causing the dorsal fin motif on the pickguard to illuminate with the sound intensity. Each guitar includes a custom neck plate, certificate of authenticity, and hard case.

The Black Edition, exclusive to Fender Flagship Tokyo and Fender Japan’s official online store, takes inspiration from the 1954 black-and-white Godzilla film. Finished in dark grey tones, it retains the same GLO lighting mechanism, custom electronics, engraved neck plate, and accessories, offering a monochrome contrast to the Blue variant.

The collection also includes the Godzilla Distortion Pedal (16,500 yen / ~S$150) featuring active Treble and Bass controls, designed to emulate the monster’s destructive sonic energy, and the Fender × Godzilla Pick Set (3,300 yen / ~S$30) featuring twelve designs with Japanese motifs, foil finishes, and kaiju-inspired typography housed in a sliding metal case stamped with Godzilla’s footprint.

Pre-orders for all instruments and accessories open on 11 October 2025. The collection marks a unique crossover between two cultural icons — the sound of Fender meeting the roar of Godzilla.
