OTTOmobile has announced the 1/18 scale Ford Escort WRC Rallye Catalunya 1997 (OT1179), representing the car driven by Carlos Sainz and co-driver Luis Moya during the 1997 Spanish round of the World Rally Championship. The model is priced at €79.90 (approximately S$116) and limited to 2,000 units. Orders are restricted to a maximum of two per customer, with payment due by 10 December 2025 and shipments scheduled for late December.

The resin model reproduces the Team Repsol livery carried by the number 5 Ford Escort WRC at Rallye Catalunya. The vehicle is based on the M4A4 chassis with HVSS suspension, reflecting the late evolution of the Escort WRC platform under Ford’s works team. In the 1997 event, Sainz aimed for a home victory after two early-season podiums but faced mechanical issues that dropped him outside podium contention.

OTTOmobile’s release presents the car as it appeared during the rally’s tarmac stages, with markings and sponsor layouts consistent with period references. The model continues the manufacturer’s series of WRC subjects, documenting key rally vehicles from the 1990s.
