The PLB625 AA Gun & Missile Integrated Weapon System has been unveiled as one of China’s most advanced short-range land-based air-defence platforms. Designed for high mobility and rapid deployment, this system was built to counter aerial threats in field operations and to safeguard critical points on the ground.

Armed with a six-barrel 25mm rotary autocannon paired with four Hongying-6B short-range air-defence missiles, the PLB625 delivers lethal precision within a 1–6 kilometre envelope. Its firepower is backed by a robust sensor suite, comprising target acquisition radar, fire-control radar, and a multi-channel electro-optical system, allowing it to track and destroy multiple threats with speed and accuracy.

The weapon system is mounted on an 8×8 wheeled armoured chassis, offering both cross-country mobility and protection, ensuring it can adapt to the shifting conditions of modern battlefields. It can operate alone or integrate into wider networks, forming a layered defensive shield when paired with other systems. First fielded by the Xizang Military Command in 2021, the PLB625 made its public parade debut on 3 September 2025, symbolising China’s latest step forward in close-range air defence capability.

Model Kit Release

MENG brings this battlefield powerhouse to the hobby world with its upcoming 1/72 scale kit, product code 72-018. Standing at approximately 96mm long, 47mm wide and 62mm high (with radar raised), the model faithfully replicates the rugged vehicle and its weapon systems in compact form.

The release, scheduled for March 2026, marks MENG’s first 1/72 scale wheeled armoured vehicle kit. It continues the brand’s focus on streamlined construction, offering smooth assembly and fine decals for added detail.
