Magic Factory Revisits Miramar’s Training Deck with the A-4M Skyhawk Adversary Kit
A trace of high-contrast camouflage and classroom-sky manoeuvres resurfaces as Magic Factory introduces its A-4M Skyhawk Adversary release, built around two Miramar-based training schemes drawn from the early 1990s.
The package offers two complete decal options produced by Cartograf, covering VF-126 “Bandits” BuNo.159486 from August 1992 and the NFWS Top Gun aircraft BuNo.160045 from July 1993. Both schemes reflect the operational appearance of the Skyhawk during peak adversary training activity, with markings and colour separation tailored to each airframe’s specific configuration. Auxiliary fuel tanks are included, alongside detail elements focused on the internal structure of the nose electronic cabin, which can be displayed in open form for servicing or instructional layouts.
The model supports an extensive set of open-state options intended to match maintenance scenarios. The boarding ladder, intake and exhaust plugs, and the engine maintenance hatch provide scope for portraying the Skyhawk in a ground-check arrangement, with part of the engine interior moulded to support this display. Slats, ailerons, speedbrakes, the horizontal stabiliser, elevator and rudder are produced as separate components, allowing them to be assembled at varied angles. The stabiliser itself is designed as a linkage assembly to reflect its real-world operational movement.
Supplementary components include photo-etched parts, TPE components, mirror stickers, masking stickers and a metal pitot tube, rounding out the structural and detail elements required for an accurate representation of the Skyhawk in either of its adversary configurations.
