Power Takes Flight with METAL BUILD Power Type Impulse Gundam
Bandai Spirits’ Tamashii Nations division has announced the latest entry in the METAL BUILD series — the Power Type Impulse Gundam, based on Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny. The figure is scheduled for release in March 2026.
The METAL BUILD Power Type Impulse Gundam is overseen by mechanical animation director Tomoshi Shigeta and redesigned by Yoichi Sakamoto, Koma, and Hiroshi Hirose, the team behind several SEED series mechanical designs. Built around a diecast alloy inner frame, the figure incorporates a detailed mechanical structure with articulated components. The outer armour includes precisely moulded panels, detailed markings, and multi-tone paint applications.
A key feature of this release is its complete separation and combination system. The figure can separate into four individual modules — Core Splendor, Chest Flyer, Leg Flyer, and Power Silhouette — each transformable into flight mode. Alloy connectors are used in the assembly joints to maintain strength and stability during configuration changes.
The weapon loadout consists of a high-energy beam rifle, expandable shield, foldable anti-armour knives, “Excalibur” laser anti-ship sword, and Vajra-style beam sabres. The shield features an extending mechanism, the knives can be stored on the side skirts, and the Excalibur sword includes a sliding blade function. Three beam effect parts are included to represent different output modes.
