Rev Your Engines: Seiko and Initial D Celebrate 30 Years with AE86-Inspired Watch
An epic anniversary just became even more special. To mark the 30th anniversary of the much-loved racing manga and anime Initial D, Seiko has collaborated to create a limited-edition chronograph inspired by Takumi Fujiwara’s legendary AE86.
Key features of the watch:
- Design that captures the racing spirit: The dial’s black-and-white motif mirrors the AE86’s classic paint scheme. Sub-dials at 9 o’clock and 3 o’clock mimic car gauges, while the 3 o’clock position even features a “high beam indicator” design.
- Hidden detail for fans: At 4 o’clock sits a subtle but iconic reference — the phrase “Fujiwara Tofu Shop (Private Use)” — a detail certain to bring a smile to street-racing enthusiasts.
- Collector’s edition presentation: The watch comes in a themed box reflecting the AE86 aesthetic, complete with a full-colour illustration of Takumi and his car. Only 1,995 pieces will be produced, each engraved with a unique serial number.
- Price and release: Priced at approximately ¥65,780, with deliveries scheduled for late December 2025.
