When Crystal Armour Stirs and Machines Unite
The shifting glow of phantom engines sets the stage as Good Smile Company prepares two new MODEROID DX-SCALE releases drawn from the original Knight’s & Magic novels: the imposing Ikaruga in its Calamity configuration and the alien-framed Kasasagi. Both kits arrive in July 2026 as online-shop exclusives, presenting detailed recreations of their distinct silhouettes and combined form.
The DX-SCALE Ikaruga captures the machine’s reinforced structure with newly designed assembly sections and a mixture of fabric and hard-plastic skirt options. Transparent components are used across various areas to match the luminous qualities associated with its phantom knight origins. The design also incorporates the internal furnace, known as the “Royal Heart”, concealed beneath the rear armour, while the twin “Gun-Blade” weapons are reproduced through colour-separated parts and can be reconfigured into a shooting mode. Dedicated fittings and cables allow the launcher mechanism of the “Moon-Seizing Hand” to be displayed, adding functional depth to the armament set. The kit completes the Calamity Ikaruga by linking with the separately sold Kasasagi, forming the unified configuration seen in its combined operational state.
The Kasasagi, produced in the same DX-SCALE proportions as Ikaruga, adopts a distinctive asymmetrical frame based on its novel depiction. Its components follow the same layered part-separation approach used for Ikaruga, providing a structural consistency between the paired machines. Kasasagi also supports the transformation process required to recreate the Calamity Ikaruga, using dedicated connection parts supplied in the set. Both models include their own display bases, enabling floating poses in keeping with their in-series appearance.
Specifications
The DX-SCALE Ikaruga stands within the line’s established scale and employs a combination of transparent elements, new moulded parts and cloth components for the front waist sections. The “Gun-Blade” units are colour-reproduced through part separation and are supplied in a set of four. The DX-SCALE Kasasagi follows the same scale and engineering approach, providing the framework required for its transformation and combined display with Ikaruga.
Accessories / Features
Ikaruga includes fabric or hard-plastic waist armour options, transparent parts throughout the structure, four transformable “Gun-Blades”, components for the “Moon-Seizing Hand” launcher system, internal furnace detailing, a plastic skirt-armour crest with water-slide decals, and a dedicated base for floating poses.
Kasasagi includes its own stand, transformation parts for the unified Calamity form, and DX-SCALE colour-separated components aligned with the approach used for Ikaruga.
