Avengers: Doomsday Trailer Brings Together Avengers, X-Men and Fantastic Four

The first official trailer for Avengers: Doomsday has arrived, featuring Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom fighting the X-Men, Fantastic Four and more.

Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, the film sees Downey Jr. return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe not as Tony Stark, but as Victor Von Doom, likely a variant of Iron Man from another universe. The character previously made a brief, face-obscured appearance in the post-credits scene of Fantastic Four: First Steps.

The trailer brings together an extensive roster spanning multiple corners of the franchise. Returning MCU figures include Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson/Captain America, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Letitia Wright as Shuri, Simu Liu as Shang-Chi and Tenoch Huerta as Namor, alongside Danny Ramirez and Winston Duke. The Fantastic Four line-up adds Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm, while the Thunderbolts contingent brings in Florence Pugh, David Harbour, Wyatt Russell and Hannah John-Kamen.

Also joining the cast are several original X-Men actors making their MCU debut, including Patrick Stewart as Professor X, Ian McKellen as Magneto, Kelsey Grammer as Beast, Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler, James Marsden as Cyclops and Rebecca Romijn as Mystique. Chris Evans also returns as Steve Rogers, appearing for the first time since Avengers: Endgame.

Avengers: Doomsday is set to release in theatres on December 18, with a sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars, to follow a year later.
