Galaxy Model has announced a new range of 3D printed miniature chains designed for scale modelling applications, offering individually interlinked links in sizes intended to address the limitations of conventional metal chain.
The new Multi Scale Chain Series comprises two chain styles: the Stud-Link Anchor Chain, with product codes FS00001 to FS00008, and the Oval Link Chain, with product codes FS00009 to FS00016.
Both series are available in eight sizes, with link-wire diameters ranging from 0.12 mm to 0.40 mm. Each package contains two chains with 100 links per chain.
The Stud-Link Anchor Chain features the characteristic centre stud found on heavy naval anchor chains and is intended for applications including ship anchor equipment and deck scenes. The Oval Link Chain is a more general-purpose design intended for naval vessels, aircraft carrier scenes, vehicles, equipment, dioramas and other scale modelling applications.
Galaxy Model states that the individually interlinked construction allows the chains to reproduce the appearance and natural drape of full-sized chain at miniature scale. The range is intended to provide model builders with a choice of chain dimensions suited to different subjects, from small-scale ship models to larger-scale detailing.
The eight available link-wire diameters are 0.12 mm, 0.15 mm, 0.18 mm, 0.20 mm, 0.25 mm, 0.30 mm, 0.35 mm and 0.40 mm.
