Six miniature figures, split between infected Digimon and their unaffected counterparts, are lined up for a December arrival. PLEX Inc. of Japan has announced the “Godzilla VS Digimon Mini Sofubi Chronicle” (ゴジラVSデジタルモンスター ミニソフビクロニクル), a new entry in its Mini Sofubi Chronicle monster sofubi blind box series. The collaboration was launched by Bandai to mark Godzilla’s 70th anniversary, with designs led by Watanabe Kenji around the concept of G-Cells invading the Digital World. Infected Digimon take on a “G-Erosion Mode” marked by dark skin and dorsal fins, and the project has previously produced a co-branded colour virtual pet device and several detailed figures.
Features
The set carries over four collaboration designs from the earlier DEFOREAL sofubi figure series: MetalGreymon: G-Erosion Mode, SkullGreymon: G-Erosion Mode, Machinedramon: Type-3 “Kai” Mode and WarGreymon: G-Erosion Mode. Two further figures round out the line-up, an original WarGreymon and Godzilla (1999), bringing the total to six types.
Each figure is sculpted with a low head-to-body ratio, with the collaboration designs reproduced in the smaller scale. Flat and pearlescent paint applications are used together, with the pearlescent finish applied to recreate metallic textures and the detailing of the G-Erosion skin.
