MENG Honours a General’s Favourite Ride with New Sherman Kit

General Creighton Abrams called it “Thunderbolt VII.” MENG has now recreated it in 1/72 scale with a new M4A3 (76) W Sherman kit.

While never the undisputed king of one-on-one tank duels in World War II, the M4 Sherman was the ultimate workhorse of the battlefield, designed from the outset with mass production, parts interchangeability, and transoceanic shipping constraints in mind. The M4A3(76)W variant, equipped with a 450hp Ford GAA V8 engine, a 76mm M1 series gun, and wet ammunition stowage, struck a balance between mobility, firepower, and crew survivability. With total Sherman family production nearing 50,000 units, it wasn’t the fiercest tank on paper, but mass production, reliability, and continuous upgrades secured its place as a decisive factor in the Allied victory.

Once assembled, the MENG 1/72 72-019 U.S. Medium Tank M4A3 (76) W Sherman measures approximately 101mm long, 38mm wide, and 44mm high. Building on the modular design approach used in MENG’s earlier 1/72 scale releases, this kit further refines the building experience, capturing the tank’s robust hull, rounded turret, and elongated gun barrel in fine detail. The kit includes the classic “Thunderbolt VII” paint scheme and fine decals.

The MENG 72-019 U.S. Medium Tank M4A3 (76) W Sherman is expected to be available in September 2026.
